Photo comments are only available in certain regions at this time. If you don't see them, check back in at a later date to see if they're available in your area.

If you’ve got something great to say about a Pin, leave a comment or mention someone to share a Pin with them. Before you add a comment, review and accept our Comment Code to leave comments that follow our Community guidelines. You’ll only need to accept the Comment Code once.

You can only add links to Pinterest in your comment. Comments can be up to 500 characters.

Note: Comments may be disabled on some Pins.

Add a comment

You can add a comment on a Pin.

  • Log into your Pinterest account
  • Click on a Pin
  • Below the Pin, click the Comments section
  • You can add your comment in the comment field or mention up to 5 people on Pinterest by typing "@" and then their usernames
  • Click Done to save
  • Open the Pinterest app on your device and log into your Pinterest account
  • Tap on a Pin
  • Scroll down to the Comments or tap the heart/speech icon on the left-hand side of your screen
  • Tap into the Add a comment field and enter your comment or mention up to 5 people on Pinterest by typing "@" and then their usernames
  • Tap Post
  • You can also add a photo comment to your Pin by clicking on the  the image icon next to the comment field. Then, select your photo from your gallery. To edit the text or delete the photo comment, click the  the ellipsis icon next to the photo comment and select edit or delete.

     

  • Open the Pinterest app on your device and log into your Pinterest account
  • Tap on a Pin

    Reply to a comment

    To reply to a comment on a Pin, find the comment you want to reply to and tap Reply. Add your comment and tap Post when you’re ready to publish it.

    Edit your comment

    You can edit a comment that you post.

  • Click on the Pin
  • Under the Pin, click on Comments 
  • Click the ellipsis icon below the comment you want to edit
  • Click Edit
  • Update your comment, then click Save to save changes
  • Tap on the Pin
  • Scroll down to the comments
  • Tap the comment you want to edit
  • Tap the ellipsis icon
  • Tap Edit
  • Update your comment, then tap Done to save changes
  • Tap on the Pin
  • Scroll down to the comments
  • Tap the comment you want to edit
  • Tap the ellipsis icon
  • Tap Edit
  • Update your comment, then tap Save to save changes
  • Highlight a comment

    If you’ve received a great or helpful comment, you can choose to highlight it for other people to see.

  • Log into your Pinterest account
  • Click on a Pin
  • Click the ellipsis icon under the comment you want to highlight
  • Click Highlight
  • Open the Pinterest app on your device and log into your Pinterest account
  • Tap on a Pin
  • Tap the ellipsis icon under the comment you want to highlight
  • Tap Highlight
  • Open the Pinterest app on your device and log into your Pinterest account
  • Tap on a Pin
  • Tap the ellipsis icon under the comment you want to highlight
  • Tap Highlight
  • Add a comment filter

    You can create a comment filter to block a term for your published Pins as well as for the comments you see on others' Pins. Comments containing the term will not appear on your Pin, though words or phrases containing the term will continue to appear in comments. If you’d like to block multiple words or phrases, use commas between each term to add each specific use case to the filter.

    For example, if you create a filter for the word “apple pie”, any comment containing the exact phase will be blocked. In this case, “I like apple pie” or “apple pie” would be blocked. Any modified use of the word or phrase will not be blocked. In this case, “apple” or “apple pies are yummy” would not be blocked.

  • Log into your Pinterest account.
  • Click next to your profile picture at the top-right, then click Settings.
  • From the left-side navigation, click Social permissions.
  • Toggle the switch next to Filter comments on my Pis.
  • Under Blocked words, add the words or phrases you do not want to appear in comments. Use commas between each word or phrase.
  • Click Save.

  • Tap the nut icon at the top-right.
  • Tap Social permissions.

    You can manage whether others can comment on individual Pins that you've published.

  • Log into your Pinterest account
  • Click on a Pin
  • Click the ellipsis icon
  • Toggle the switch next to Allow people to comment
  • Click Save
  • Open the Pinterest app on your device and log into your Pinterest account
  • Tap on a Pin
  • Tap the ellipsis icon
  • Toggle the switch next to Allow comments
  • Your changes will save automatically.

    Turn comments on or off for all Pins

    You can manage whether others can comment on all of the Pins that you've published. This is currently only available on iOS.

  • Open the Pinterest app on your device and log in to your Pinterest account
  • Tap your profile photo at the bottom-right of your screen
  • Tap the the ellipsis icon at the top-right of your screen
  • Select Settings 
  • Select Social permissions and activity 
  • Under Comments toggle the switch next to Allow comments on your Pins
  • Report or delete a comment or photo comment

    If a comment goes against our Community guidelines, you can report it. You can also delete a comment or photo comment you post or a comment someone left on a Pin you’ve published.

    If you have a Pinterest business account, you can use the engagement tab to respond to comments, turn off comments or delete comments in one place.

  • Click on the Pin.
  • Click the ellipsis icon below the comment you want to delete or report.
  • Click Delete or Report this content.
    • If you're deleting a comment, click Delete to confirm.
    • If you're reporting a comment, select a reason for reporting it, then click Next. Click Report to confirm.

    Photo comments can only be created from Android and iOS devices.

    To report a photo comment, click on  the ellipsis icon below the photo comment you want to report. Then, select Report. Enter the reason for your report and select Next. Finally, click Report.



    To report a photo comment for Intellectual Property rights, contact us. Include the Pin URL and the username of the person who posted the comment in your message.

  • Tap the Pin.
  • Scroll down to the comments section.
  • Tap the ellipsis icon below the comment you want to delete or report.
  • Tap Delete or Report.
    • If you're reporting a comment, select a reason for reporting it, then click Report to confirm.

    To report a photo comment, click on  the ellipsis icon below the photo comment you want to report. Then, select Report and enter the reason for your report.
