As a parent or caregiver with a teen under 18, you can set up a four-digit passcode to lock certain settings and provide guidance on your teen's Pinterest account. For more information about supporting your teen on Pinterest, visit our resources for parents and caregivers.

How it works

When you’re ready to set up the passcode, you’ll create a four-digit passcode and enter your email address. You’ll need to access this email to make changes to the passcode.

The passcode will expire when your teen turns 18 based on the date of birth in their account. Your email address will be deleted after the parental passcode is turned off or it expires.

If you're a parent or caregiver living in the EU, we rely on your legitimate interests to use your email address for the purpose of confirming, managing, and if necessary, recovering the passcode. We’ll use your email address for these reasons, and for as long as the passcode is active on your teen’s account.

Settings locked by passcode

You'll need to enter the passcode in order to edit certain settings for your teen’s account, including:

  • Email
  • Password
  • Profile visibility
  • Ads personalization (The privacy and data settings available to you may depend on where your teen is located)
  • Messaging
  • @Mentions
  • Comments
  • Shopping Recommendations
