Search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo may show your profile or boards in their search results. If you don't want to appear in search results, you can edit your settings to turn on search privacy.

Turn on your search privacy

You must be at least 18 years old to edit your search privacy. If your profile is private, search privacy will be turned on automatically and you won't be able to edit it.

  • Log in to your Pinterest account
  • Click the directional chevron down icon  in the top right-hand corner to open your menu
  • Click Settings
  • Click Profile visibility at the left side of the screen
  • Toggle the switch next to Search privacy
  • Click I understand
  • Click Save
  • Open the Pinterest app on your device and log in to your Pinterest account
  • Tap your profile picture in the bottom right-hand corner
  • Tap the nut icon at the top-right corner
  • Tap Profile visibility
  • Toggle the switch next to Search privacy
  • Your changes will be saved automatically.

  • Open the Pinterest app on your device and log in to your Pinterest account
  • Tap on your profile picture in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen
  • Tap the nut icon at the top-right corner
  • Tap Profile visibility
  • Toggle the switch next to Search privacy
  • Tap I understand
  • When you turn on search privacy, a tag is added to your pages to let search engines know to exclude your profile and boards from search results. We add the tag straight away, but you may already have information that's added to search results.

Remove your information from a search

If your profile, name or photos are appearing in a search outside Pinterest, you can ask the search engine to remove them:
