You can install the Pinterest for WooCommerce plug-in to promote products that you’re already selling on WooCommerce and measure the results of the actions that people take on your website.

By installing this plug-in, you can:

  • Connect your WooCommerce catalogue to your Pinterest account
  • Add the Pinterest Save extension to your products on your website
  • Track conversions with the Pinterest Tag

    Before you get started

    Before you can connect your WooCommerce and Pinterest accounts, you must have a Pinterest business account.

    Bear in mind that you can only use one integration with your account. If you’re already using the Shopify plug-in, you’ll have to remove it before installing the WooCommerce plug-in.

    Get started

    To set up the WooCommerce plug-in, follow the steps below. You’ll be prompted to accept our advertisement agreement during the process if you have not already done so.

    1. Install the plug-in
  • Log in to your WooCommerce account
  • Click Plugins, then select Add New
  • In the search bar, enter ‘Pinterest for WooCommerce’ and search
  • Click Install Now, then click Activate
  • Click Marketing, then select Pinterest
  • Click Get started
  • Click Connect   
  • Click Give access when prompted to grant the plug-in permission to access your Pinterest business account
  • Click THAT’S MY SITE - REDIRECT ME to be directed back to your website
  • 2. Claim your website

    Click Start Verification and wait a few seconds for your website to be linked to your Pinterest business account. Once it’s been verified successfully, click Continue to start the tag installation process.

    3. Set up the Pinterest Tag
  • Click  the directional chevron down icon below Advertiser
  • Select the advertiser for which you want to install a tracking snippet
  • Click  the directional chevron down icon below Tracking tag
  • Select the tracking tag you want to use
  • Click Complete setup
  • Connect your WooCommerce catalogue to your Pinterest account

    The plug-in can automatically sync the products in your WooCommerce and Pinterest catalogues. You can see the status of the sync on the Catalogue tab. Note: the first sync can take up to 24 hours.

  • Click Marketing from the left-side navigation, then select Pinterest
  • Click Settings
  • In the Set up Product Sync section, below Product Sync, tick the box next to Enable Product Sync
  • Click Save changes
  • Add the Pinterest Save extension to your products

    You can add the Pinterest Save extension to your product images on your WooCommerce site. People can click this button to save the image as a Pin on their Pinterest accounts.

  • Click Marketing from the left-side navigation, then select Pinterest
  • In the Publish Pins and Rich Pins section, below Save to Pinterest, tick the box next to Save to Pinterest
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page, then click Save changes
  • Enable Rich Pins

    Your products and posts can be enriched with metadata so they feature the most up-to-date information from your website and become Rich Pins. If you enable Rich Pins, your products will be product Rich Pins and your posts will be article Rich Pins.

  • Click Marketing from the left-side navigation, then select Pinterest
  • In the Publish Pins and Rich Pins section, beneath Rich Pins, tick the boxes next to Add Rich Pins for Products and Add Rich Pins for Posts if you want to enable both types
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page, then click Save changes
  • Track conversions with the Pinterest Tag

    The Pinterest Tag code is added to all relevant pages of your website, meaning that you can track events and conversions that help you understand how people are interacting with your website.

  • Click Marketing from the left-side navigation, then select Pinterest
  • Click Settings
  • Below Tracking, tick the box next to Track conversions
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page, then click Save changes
  • Enable enhanced match

    You can increase the accuracy of your tracking by enabling enhanced match.

  • Click Marketing from the left-side navigation, then select Pinterest
  • Click Settings
  • In the Publish Pins and Rich Pins section, below Tracking, tick the box next to Track conversions
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page, then click Save changes
  • Update your plug-in

    Make sure you keep your plug-in updated so that it will continue to function correctly.

  • Log in to your WooCommerce account
  • Open the Pinterest for WooCommerce product page
  • Click Details and compatibility on the right-hand side of the screen
  • Click Plug-ins, then Installed plug-ins
  • Check the number of the version currently installed, then click Update if it needs to be updated
  • Uninstall the plug-in

    You can uninstall the plug-in if you wish. No data will remain on your website after it’s been uninstalled.

  • Click Marketing from the left-side navigation, then select Pinterest
  • Click Settings
  • In the Debug logging section, below Plug-in data, tick the box next to Erase plug-in data
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page, then click Save changes
  • If something is not working as it should be with the plug-in, contact WooCommerce’s support team for help. Otherwise, you can still contact us if you need help with Pinterest.
