- Basic stats (ad spend, sales and sessions) will be shown for each campaign in the list that appears
Impressions are reported via Pinterest to the app’s reporting interface. These numbers represent the number of views your ads received from users on Pinterest. *These impression metrics should match the impressions for your campaigns in the Pinterest Ads Manager interface, with some delay in the last 24 hours of data due to transfer from Pinterest to Shopify.
Ad spend is reported from Pinterest and represents the amount of money you’re spending on your Pinterest ad campaigns created in Shopify. *Spend metrics should match the spend for campaigns in your Pinterest Ads Manager billing view, with some delay in the last 24 hours of data due to transfer from Pinterest to Shopify.
User sessions will be reported via Shopify to the app’s reporting interface. These numbers represent the number of visitors who reached your site after clicking on one of your Pinterest ads. To view how many people are clicking your ads, please visit your ad account. *These click metrics will not exactly match what's in the Pinterest Ads Manager interface.
Event naming
Marketing funnel behaviour is reported in the Shopify interface using Shopify analytics terms. The events reported in this interface also trigger Pinterest Tag conversion events.
Shopify app reporting | Pinterest conversion event names |
---|---|
Orders (sales) | Checkout |
Products added to basket | AddToCart |
**Online store sessions: sessions are user visits to your website. There's no 1:1 equivalent in Pinterest conversion reporting because a single user can trigger several conversion events in one session on your website.
Behaviour in your shop also triggers Pinterest Tag events that are not reported in the Shopify marketing behaviour funnel reports. Here’s a mapping of those events:
Shopify store behaviour | Pinterest Tag conversion event name |
---|---|
Store page load | Pagevisit |
View product category page | ViewCategory |
Perform search |

The Shopify App will only report on 'last-click' conversions. 'Last-click' refers to when a user clicks on an ad and then converts without navigating away from the page. Shopify does not capture view or engagement attributed conversions reported by Pinterest. Shopify also does not capture cross-device or cross-publisher conversion, meaning when a user sees an ad, but does not convert directly after clicking the ad.
