The Pinterest music library features a variety of royalty-free songs, all ready to add to your next Pin. When you're ready to create your next Pin, follow the steps below to add music. 

This feature is only available on the Pinterest app. Follow along in the Android or iOS section of this article with your mobile device.
  • Open the Pinterest app on your mobile device
  • Tap  at the bottom of the screen
  • Select the option to create a Pin
  • Select one or more photos or videos from your device
    • Tap   to record and upload a new photo or video
    • If you select multiple images and videos, they'll be stitched together into a single video Pin
  • Tap Next
  • Tap Music from the menu at the bottom of your screen
    • If you're creating a Pin with a single image, you'll need to tap   at the top-right corner of your image to go into edit mode.
  • Browse by song title, artist name, genre and more
    • Tap individual tracks to play a music preview
    • Tap the search bar to find a list of recently played songs
  • When you find a song you like, tap Add
  • Adjust the start time of the track (as needed) and tap Done
  • Finish creating your Pin

  • Tap  at the bottom of the screen
  • Select the option to create a Pin

    Customize your music

    You can adjust the start time of the track by moving the music bar on top of your video. Tap to adjust the sound level of the music, as well as the volume of the original audio.
    Music tips and best practices

    Keep the following guidelines in mind when adding music to your Pins: 

  • Pins uploaded with music you don't have permission to use will be muted. This includes background noise and voice overs.
  • To ensure your Pin doesn't get muted, we recommend using music available in the Pinterest music library. 
  • Unless you've received permission, brands cannot promote Pins that include music from outside our music library. Consider this when creating Pins for commercial use, sponsorships and paid partnerships.
  • Avoid creating Pins with videos that already contain music you do not have permission to use. All music is subject to licensing requirements regardless of how the music is added.

    If your Pin is muted, we'll notify you via email and in your Pinterest account. Due to legal requirements, you cannot opt out of receiving these notifications.

    If you believe the audio of your Pin was removed in error if, for instance, you own the rights to the relevant music, follow the appeal instructions in the email you received.
