Idea Pins appear in your Pinterest home feed or in other places in the Pinterest app. You’ll recognize them by the in the top-left of the Pin.

Idea Pins give people more ways to share inspiration with up to 20 pages of videos, images and text. An Idea Pin gives you all the information you need to make a recipe, craft or try a creator’s idea. Tap into an Idea Pin from your home feed and tap through the pages to get creative. Creators may feature products in some Idea Pins that you may want to learn more about. These Idea Pins will have shoppable tags or show similar items that you can use to shop for products.

View Idea Pins

There are a number of actions you can take when you view an Idea Pin. You cannot save individual pages from within an Idea Pin to your boards, however you can save an entire Idea Pin to your boards. You can also add comments, reactions or takes to an Idea Pin.
  • Click into an Idea Pin.
  • Click or to move between pages. You can also click the page to pause the current page you’re on.
  • After you’ve viewed an Idea Pin, you can:
    • Click Save in the top-right corner to save it to the recommended board or select a different board from the drop-down menu.
    • Click on the right side of the Idea Pin to react to it. Click and hold  to show more reactions.
    • Click on the right side of the Idea Pin to send an Idea Pin to someone or copy the link to the Idea Pin.
    • Under Comments, add a comment to the Idea Pin in the comment field.
    • If you see a product tag, tap the tag to shop products featured in an Idea Pin.

  • Tap into an Idea Pin.
  • If there are multiple pages, tap a page to move on to the next page. To view the previous page, tap the left side of the page. You can also tap at the bottom of the page to pause the current page you're on.
  • The Idea Pin will loop and start at the beginning once you’ve completed watching it. After you’ve viewed an Idea Pin, you can:
    • Tap the bookmark icon in the bottom-right corner to save it to a recommended board or select a different board.
    • Tap  at the right side of the Idea Pin to react to it. Tap and hold to show more reactions.
    • Tap   at the right side of the Idea Pin to send an Idea Pin to someone or copy the link to the Idea Pin.
    • Tap  to add a comment to the Idea Pin.
    • If you see a rectangle in the bottom-right corner, you can share your Idea Pin take with your own photos or videos or view other takes.
    • If you see a product tag, tap the tag to shop products featured in an Idea Pin.

  • Tap into an Idea Pin.

    Comment on Idea Pins

    You can leave comments on Idea Pins too. Depending on your device, look for a   or a comment field.

    While you’re in the comment section, feel free to interact with other comments. You can mark them as helpful or select  to show appreciation for comments you really like.

    Some Idea Pins feature question stickers. If you reply to a question sticker, your response will be visible in the comment section of the Pin.

    View captions on Idea Pins

    Closed captions are lines of text that describe a video’s audio. Viewers can choose to enable or disable closed captions. Captions are auto generated and cannot be edited or customized by the creator.

    Please note that variances in background noise, pronunciation, accents and dialects may lead to speech being misrepresented in automatically generated captions.

    Closed captioning on select Idea Pins is currently available to selected users on Android.

  • Tap into an Idea Pin
  • Tap on the right side of the Pin
  • If captions are available on the Pin, tap the toggle switch next to Show captions

    • Once you’ve enabled captions on an Idea Pin, captions will automatically appear on other Idea Pins, where available.

  • Tap into an Idea Pin
  • Tap on the right side of the Pin
  • If captions are available on the Pin, tap the toggle switch next to Show captions

    • Once you’ve disabled captions on an Idea Pin, captions will no longer appear on other Idea Pins.

    Download or share Idea Pins

    You can download some Idea Pins to your mobile device. The Idea Pins will feature a watermark displaying the creator’s username. You can also share some Idea Pins to your social networks, such as Facebook or Instagram.

    You can currently only download and share Idea Pins to social networks on Android and iOS devices.

  • Tap into an Idea Pin.
  • Tap on the right side of the Pin.
  • Tap Download to download the Idea Pin to your device.
    • Share an Idea Pin
  • Tap into an Idea Pin.
  • Tap on the right side of the Pin.
  • You can:
    • Tap FB Stories to share the Idea Pin to your Facebook stories. The Idea Pin will download to your device and Pinterest will ask to open Facebook.
    • Tap IG Stories to share the Idea Pin to your Instagram stories. The Idea Pin will download to your device and Pinterest will ask to open Instagram.
  • The Idea Pin will open in your Facebook or Instagram Stories. Tap the arrow icon to add the Idea Pin to your story.

  • Tap on the right side of the Pin.
  • Tap Download to download the Idea Pin to your device.

  • Tap on the right side of the Pin.
