Pins are visual bookmarks that people use to save content they love. You can create image Pins and video Pins on Pinterest, as well as other Pin types, including rich Pins and product Pins.

Image Pins

Image Pins feature a single image. There are two different ways to create image Pins on Pinterest. You can:

  • Upload a photo from your computer or mobile device. If you add motion elements to your image (like a GIF or music track), it will become a video Pin.
  • Save an image you find online as a Pin. We’ll include a link to the website so people on Pinterest know where to find the original image.
  • If you set up a business account, you can also create and promote an image Pin as an ad.

    Video Pins

Video Pins feature a single video or multiple videos and images in one Pin. You can add effects like text overlay, music, stickers and more to make them interactive.

Video Pins automatically play when they appear in your home feed and they have cover images to capture attention.

    Rich Pins

A rich Pin is a type of Pin that automatically syncs information from your website to your Pins. There are three types of rich Pins:

  • Recipe Pins add a title, serving size, cook time, ratings, diet preference and a list of ingredients to recipes that you save from your site.
  • Article Pins add the description, author, and headline or title of an article or blog post from your site.
  • Product Pins include the most up-to-date pricing, availability and product information on your Pin. You can learn more about product Pins below.
  • Product Pins

Product Pins feature products that are available to buy. When you click, or tap a product Pin, you’ll be directed to the retailer’s website.

There are two different ways to create product Pins:

  • Add your product catalog to Pinterest
  • Create product rich Pins
  • If you’re not a merchant, the best way to share products with people on Pinterest is to add a product tag.
