Video Pins appear in your home feed and search results. When video Pins are set to play automatically, sound may play on your desktop or mobile device. To stop video Pins from playing automatically, manage your autoplay settings. 

Manage autoplay settings

Video Pins play on your desktop when at least 50% of the video Pin is on the screen. Sound may play when you open a video Pin based on your browser settings.

To stop videos from playing automatically on your desktop, you can edit your settings:

  • Log in to your Pinterest account
  • Click the directional chevron down icon at the top-right corner of your screen
  • Click Settings
  • Click Social permissions at the left-side navigation
  • Under Autoplay videos, toggle the switch next to Autoplay videos on desktop to turn autoplay on or off
  • Click Save at the bottom of the page
  • Video Pins play on your mobile device when 50% of the video Pin is in view. To watch the video in a larger view, tap the Pin. Sound will play from the opened video Pin based on your device settings. You can update your settings so videos will not play automatically.

  • Open the Pinterest app and log in to your Pinterest account
  • Tap your profile picture at the bottom-right corner of the screen
  • Tap the nut icon at the top-right corner
  • Tap Social permissions
  • Toggle the switch next to Autoplay videos on cellular data to turn autoplay on or off
  • Video Pins play on your mobile device when 50% of the video Pin is in view. To watch the video in a larger view, tap the Pin. Sound will play from the opened video Pin based on your device settings. You can update your settings so videos will not play automatically.

  • Open the Pinterest app and log in to your Pinterest account

  • Tap the nut icon at the top-right corner
