Add or manage comments on a Pin

If you have something great to say about a Pin, leave a comment or mention someone to share a Pin with them. Before you add a comment, review and accept our Comment Code to leave comments that follow our Community guidelines. You’ll only need to accept the Comment Code once.

You can only add links to Pinterest in your comment. Comments can be up to 500 characters.

Note that if you receive an error message when you try to comment on a Pin, it may be because:

You may have been blocked by the creator of the Pin

You may have violated our Community guidelines

The creator of the Pin may have turned off the option to leave comments

Add a comment

You can add a comment on a Pin.

Click on a Pin

Below the Pin, click the Comments section

You can add your comment in the comment field or mention up to 5 people on Pinterest by typing "@" and then their usernames

Click Done to save

You can also add a photo comment to your Pin by clicking on the the image icon next to the comment field and tapping Photos. Then, select your photo from your gallery and tap the directional-arrow-up icon to post your comment. To edit the text or delete the photo comment, click the the ellipsis icon next to the photo comment and select edit or delete.

You can also add a photo comment to your Pin by clicking on the square-plus icon next to the comment field and tapping Photos. Then, select your photo from your gallery and tap the arrow-circle-up icon to post your comment. To edit the text or delete the photo comment, click the the ellipsis icon next to the photo comment and select edit or delete.

Why comments are turned off on your Pins

Comments on your Pins are turned off by default if you’re under 18. This is due to changes we made to features available for teen accounts in our effort to help everyone, especially teens, create a safe and personal space on Pinterest. You can turn on comments for individual Pins by changing the settings for each Pin. Learn more about teen safety on Pinterest and what features are available for people under 18.

Comments may also be turned off on Pins that we think might contain something unsafe or sensitive. For example, comments may be disabled on a Pin whose image contains a minor, might contain adult content or we suspect might violate any of our Community Guidelines around content safety. In these cases, the comments feature isn’t available and cannot be turned on regardless of the account owner’s age or other comment-related settings. Comments for Pins that we suspect are in violation of our Community Guidelines remain turned off to help ensure Pinterest is a safe space for everyone.

Reply to a comment

To reply to a comment on a Pin, find the comment you want to reply to and tap Reply. Add your comment and tap Post when you’re ready to publish it.

You can edit a comment that you post.

Under the Pin, click on Comments

Highlight a comment

If you’ve received a great or helpful comment, you can choose to highlight it for other people to see.

Log into your Pinterest account

Click on a Pin

Click under the comment you want to highlight

Click Highlight

Add a comment filter

If you’d like to block multiple words or phrases, use commas between each term to add each specific use case to the filter.

Log into your Pinterest account.

Click next to your profile picture at the top-right, then click Settings.

From the left-side navigation, click Social permissions.

Toggle the switch next to Filter comments on my Pins.

Under Blocked words, add the words or phrases you do not want to appear in comments. Use commas between each word or phrase.

Click Save.

You can also create a filter for the comments you see on others' Pins, by toggling the switch next to Filter comments on others' Pins and following the steps above.

Open the Pinterest app on your device and log into your Pinterest account.

From the bottom-right of your screen, tap your profile picture

To navigate to Settings, tap your profile photo at the top-left of the screen if you have a personal account. Tap at the top-right of your screen if you have a business account

Tap Social permissions.

Turn on one or both filters:

To create a comment filter on Pins you created, toggle the switch next to Filter comments on my Pins.

You can turn comments on or off on individual Pins, or turn comments on or off for all of your new and existing Pins through your account settings.

Turn comments on or off for all Pins

You can manage whether others can comment on all of the Pins that you've published. This feature is currently only available on iOS and will be disabled if you’re under 18.

Report or delete a comment or photo comment

If a comment goes against our Community guidelines, you can report it. You can also delete a comment or photo comment you post or a comment someone left on a Pin you’ve published.

If you have a Pinterest business account, you can use the engagement tab to respond to comments, turn off comments or delete comments in one place.

Click on the Pin.

Click below the comment you want to delete or report.

Click Delete or Report this content.

If you're deleting a comment, click Delete to confirm.
If you're reporting a comment, select a reason for reporting it, then click Next. Click Report to confirm.

Photo comments can only be created from Android and iOS devices.

To report a photo comment, click on the ellipsis icon below the photo comment you want to report. Then, select Report. Enter the reason for your report and select Next. Finally, click Report.

To report a photo comment for Intellectual Property rights, contact us. Include the Pin URL and the username of the person who posted the comment in your message.

Tap the Pin.

Scroll down to the comments section.

Tap

Tap Delete or Report.

If you're reporting a comment, select a reason for reporting it, then click Report to confirm.

To report a photo comment, click on the ellipsis icon below the photo comment you want to report. Then, select Report and enter the reason for your report.

To report a photo comment for Intellectual Property rights, contact us. Include the Pin URL and the username of the person who posted the comment in your message.

Tap the Pin.

Scroll down to the comments section.

Tap the comment or photo comment you want to delete or report.
