An ad-only Pin is a Pin that is only used for an ad and cannot be seen by the public otherwise. Ad-only Pins are useful for advertisers with time-sensitive content, when there are legal requirements for their content to exist only as an ad, or when advertisers only want content to be seen by a specific audience.

Advertisers can select this option while creating a Pin in the ad creation process. Once a Pin is designated ad-only or organic it cannot be switched and you will have to start over to switch Pin types.

People on Pinterest cannot save or re-Pin these ad-only Pins and the ad will only show to the audience targeted for the duration of the campaign.

Ad-only Pins boards

Ad-only Pins are automatically saved on a protected board on advertisers profiles. Ad-only Pins can be organized into different sections within this board but they cannot be moved out of this board.

Reporting on ad-only Pins

Reporting details for ad-only Pins can be found in the reporting dashboard and custom reports, in the Ad-only Pin column.
