Creator Rewards is a program for creators to earn money for creating original Idea Pins in response to monthly reward goals created by Pinterest. Pinterest will pay creators directly for their most inspiring, quality content and organic engagement.

Another program offered by Pinterest is the Creator Fund. This new initiative is focused on the growth and success of underrepresented creators: people of color, people with disabilities and members of the LGBTQ+ community. The Fund’s goal is to foster creator talent through financial and educational support while aiming to make Pinterest an increasingly inclusive and diverse platform.

    Participate in reward goals

Creators can participate in a reward goal by creating and submitting an Idea Pin in response to the prompt.

Pinterest will post new reward goal prompts on a frequent basis, typically at the start of each month. Pinterest operates on UTC time so the release of reward goals may vary based on your time zone. You can find the exact start and end times for each reward goal on the rewards goals details page in the app.

Each reward goal will have a description, payout amounts and requirements. The maximum number of Pins that can be submitted varies based on the specific reward goal. Unless otherwise specified there is currently no limit to the total number of Pins you can submit to a reward goal. You can only submit an Idea Pin to one reward goal at a time.

    Content requirements

As outlined in the Creator Rewards Term of Service, not all content published during the challenge timeframe is eligible for payout. For content to be considered for payout, it must:

  • Be original content
  • Align with our creative best practices
  • Not violate our Community guidelines
  • Meet the reward goal engagement requirements*
  • Meet the reward goal editorial guidelines
  • Meet the terms and conditions of the program
  • Not be paid or promoted content
  • All Pins submitted to reward goals are reviewed for originality, spam and fraud. Pins that include videos or images that have been published to Pinterest before (or are nearly identical to other Pins) will be rejected. We also automatically filter out any engagements with Pins that could be considered spam or not from real people. This means you may notice the number of saves on a Pin change once you submit it to Creator Rewards.

Check out the spam section of our community guidelines to learn more about how we filter out spam to keep Pinterest safe and useful.

Creator Rewards is currently only available on mobile devices on the Pinterest app, versions 9.33 or higher. Update your Pinterest app to the latest version to use Creator Rewards.

  • Tap your profile picture in the bottom-right corner.
  • Tap Creator Hub on your profile.
  • Tap Earn at the top of the screen.
  • Tap into a reward goal under the In progress tab.
  • Tap Add Idea Pins.
  • Select the Idea Pin you want to submit for the reward goal. If you do not have any eligible Idea Pins to submit, you can create a new Idea Pin.
  • Tap Submit.
  • Log into your Pinterest business account.
  • Tap your profile picture in the bottom-right corner.
  • Tap Creator hub on your profile.
  • Tap Earn at the top of the screen.
  • Tap into a reward goal under the In progress tab.

  • Select the Idea Pin you want to submit for the reward goal. If you do not have any eligible Idea Pins to submit, you can create a new Idea Pin.
  • Tap Submit 1 Idea Pin.
  • Navigating the Earn Tab

Within the Earn tab there are two sections where you can find reward goals, the Available tab and the Completed tab. The Available tab will show you all active reward goals. Under the In progress section of this tab you can view the Reward Goals that you have already submitted Pins to. Under the Available section of this tab you can view Reward Goals you have not yet opted into. Active Reward Goals will live on this tab until you’ve successfully completed the Reward Goal or the Reward Goal period ends, whichever occurs first.

On the Completed tab you can find Reward Goals that you have previously submitted Pins.

On both the Available and Completed tabs you can tap into a reward goal to find more details around the status of your Pin.

At any point, a Pin can have one of three statuses, In review, Accepted and Not Accepted

  • In review: Your Pin has been sent to Pinterest but has not yet been reviewed
  • Accepted: Your Pin has passed the eligibility requirements for the specific Reward Goal it was submitted to and may be eligible for payment. This does not mean your Pin is guaranteed for payment.
  • Not Accepted: Your Pin did not pass the eligibility requirements for the specific Reward Goal. It may not have met our community guidelines, our Reward Goal requirements or met the required engagement goal. You will not be rewarded for this submission.
  • Progress updates for your Pin will appear after 48 hours, after meeting the engagement requirements for a reward goal.

    Payments

Within 30 days of the reward goal ending, your accumulated earnings can be deposited to your linked bank account, as long as you finalize your payment profile before the reward goal end date.

If you miss the payment timeline for any reason or the initial payout attempt is unsuccessful, we’ll attempt to pay out your verified earnings once a week for 60 days. After 60 days, your funds will be forfeited and will no longer be available to you.

We will try to deliver your payment for the previous month in 1 deposit, no matter how many reward goals you’ve participated in. But you may receive multiple payments if there is a need for an amended payout or challenges with payment processing.

The maximum potential payout for each goal is determined by the reward goal. The maximum potential payout will vary based on the goals available and the goals chosen by the creator. If a creator successfully submits and achieves all reward goals, the maximum payout the creator could receive for that month would be the sum of the maximum payout outlined for each reward goal.

In accordance with IRS guidelines, 1099 forms will be sent annually from Adyen by January 31. Creators, irrespective of their federal tax classification, will receive a 1099 form in the mail at the address creators have provided in their billing information to Adyen. You may be contacted for additional information if any personal information is missing for the tax filing. Please consult your own tax advisor for any personal tax related questions.

    Potential and verified earnings

Throughout the course of the reward goal period, you can track your potential earnings on the reward goal details page.  Potential earnings are a reflection of your estimated earnings based on the Idea Pins you’ve submitted to each reward goal. This amount may change based on the number of approved Pins at the end of the reward goal. Potential earnings are updated daily throughout the course of the reward goal period.

After a reward goal ends, your Pins will be reviewed to confirm they meet the engagement and content eligibility requirements of the goal. Once the Pins have passed the eligibility review, your earnings will become verified. Once your earnings have been verified, you’ll be eligible for payout within 30 days of the reward goal end date.

    Frequently asked questions

After launching several new features in 2022, we made the difficult decision to discontinue the Creator Rewards program in order to focus on other creator programs and features. While we’ve seen a lot of early success with this program, we’ve taken some time to reevaluate the best ways we can enable more creators to find success on Pinterest.

While we recognize the contributions from all creators who’ve been a part of this program, only recent participants will receive a one-time bonus. This includes anyone who is in good standing in the program and who participated in at least one reward goal for August, September or October 2022. To check if you’re eligible, go to the Earn tab in the creator hub and visit the “Completed” section to see which challenges you’ve participated in.

Creators receiving a bonus are those who were actively participating in the most recent completed months. Since November goals are still active, given the time it takes to calculate final earnings from a reward goal, we were unable to include the month of November into consideration for a bonus. We understand that this may be frustrating and that the bonus does not include everyone who has been a part of the program, however we look forward to supporting other monetization features that will be available for even more creators, including our paid partnership tool, Idea Pin product tagging and more.

Yes, payouts for reward goals completed in November will be issued in December as planned. Make sure you’ve linked your bank account so you receive your payment.

The bonus payment will be deposited into your bank account within 30 days. If you successfully completed reward goals in November, the bonus will be deposited as a separate payment from your November payout.

If you have not yet received funds from Pinterest please set up your bank account or verify that your account has been set up correctly as soon as possible. Follow the instructions for how to link your bank account, and be sure to provide all the documentation needed to verify your identity. Your bank account must be set up and accurate no later than December 16, as all unpaid bonus payments expire on December 31, 2022.

The Earn tab in the creator hub will remain available until March 1, 2023. Until then, you’ll be able to continue tracking your earnings in the Earn tab. If you need this information, we recommend saving your earnings information elsewhere for future reference.

Creators are an instrumental part of our platform and community. We are committed to exploring ways all creators can find success on Pinterest. And we’ll continue to support other monetization opportunities, such as our paid partnership tool, product tagging in Idea Pins, Pinterest TV and more to come.

No, our Creator Fund is a separate program that will continue. For more information on our Creator Fund, please visit the Pinterest Business site

Creators who have earned money through Pinterest will receive an end-of-year tax form, a critical document for tax filing. Pinterest is offering creators the option to download the corresponding forms from their profile menu.

To access your forms, you must log into your Pinterest account on your desktop:

    1. Log into your Pinterest account
    2. Click next to your profile photo at the top-right corner to open the menu, then click Settings
    3. Select Tax documents and choose the correct tax year
    4. Select Download

Ayden issues all tax forms, and you should also receive a paper copy in the mail by the end of January.

Note: You will only see available tax forms if you were awarded more than $600 the previous year and you have a valid Social Security number on file.

If you think you may be missing funds, you should Contact Us. After you click Contact Us, select Payment Issues then click Continue. Next, you’ll fill out your information and explain why you’re requesting funds. Please don’t forget to include any information that would help us look into this, such as the goal you participated in and a link to the Pin in question.
