Overview

Mobile deep links allow you to direct people to a specific page in your app to buy your products on mobile devices or take specific actions in the app.

After clicking on an ad, people are directed to a predefined page within your app. If they do not have the app installed, they’re taken to the same page on your website within the Pinterest app.

Types of deep links

There are two types of mobile deep links that can be used:

  • App links (for Android and iOS): takes users directly to the correct page in the installed app. You will also need to include a secondary fallback website link for users who do not have your app installed.
    • Ex: myapp://com.shopping.mysite
  • Universal deep link (UDL): one link that leads to the correct destination across Android, iOS and web depending on the device people are using.
    • Ex. https://www.website.com?campaign_id=12345
    • Note: only UDLs are allowed for Catalog Sales
  • Pinterest does not create these deep links for advertisers. You should work with your team’s developers or our  Mobile Measurement Partners (Branch, Tune, Kochava, Adjust, AppsFlyer, Singular) to configure the links specific to your organization’s needs.

    Conversion optimization (OCPM) campaigns

To participate in oCPM campaigns, you need to either be passing conversion data (including in app and web conversions) through the Pinterest Conversions API or one of our Mobile Measurement Partners.
