Overview

A Quiz ad is an ad format with multiple choice questions and answers. When people interact with Quiz ads on Pinterest, they receive a result or recommendation from the advertiser based on their choices, which helps establish a personal connection to the brand or product.

How Quiz ads work

Quiz ads are available on mobile devices only. Your Quiz ad will be visible to people on Pinterest as they browse, search and save Pins.

Quiz ads include three main parts:

  • Title Pin: Can be a standard size (2:3 ratio) image or video. Assets should include a Pin title and description to ensure your ad is served in relevant places. A built-in call to action will be visible when the Pin is shown in the home feed, prompting people to take the quiz.
  • Questions and answers: Two or three questions per ad with two or three answers to each question. You must have the same number of answers to each question.
  • Results Pin: Includes an image, title, description and outbound link. The number of results Pins you create depends on how many answer options there are. For example, if there are three possible answers to each question, you’ll need three results pins.
  • Keep in mind that while your ad itself cannot be saved, results from your Quiz ad can be saved as Pins.

    How to create Quiz ads

You can create the Pins featured in your Quiz ad before you set up your campaign, or you can create everything all at once through the ad creation flow in Ads Manager.

You’ll create one title Pin and up to three result Pins. You’ll add your questions and answers when you set up your Quiz ad in Ads Manager.

    Create a title Pin

The title Pin is the first card in your Quiz ad. It will continue to stay visible while people take your quiz.

    2. Click the hamburger icon at the top-left of the page.
    3. Under Create, click Create Pin.
    4. Click the arrow circle up icon and select an image or video.
    5. Add a title, description and destination link.
      • Tip: Place the most important information at the top of your Pin. When people take your quiz, a text box will cover the bottom third of your Pin. Review Quiz ad specs for more info.
    6. Select a board for your Pin from the drop-down menu at the top right of your screen.
    7. Click Publish.

    Create a Results Pin

The number of results you create should match your quiz. For example, if each question in your quiz has three answers, you should create three possible results.

You’ll map which answer routes to each result when you set up your Quiz ad in Ads Manager. Some answers may result in a tie. When this happens, the quiz result will be randomized.
