Upload conversions with Ads Manager

Upload a CSV file with web, in-app, offline conversions or any combination thereof into Ads Manager. Pinterest matches relevant campaigns to these conversions, and you can then pull relevant reporting for these uploaded conversions in Ads Manager.

Before you get started

  • Make sure you have an active campaign

Prepare CSV file

  • Frequency: Upload at a regular interval, at least once a month or more frequently. Send conversion data within 30 days of each conversion occurrence to Pinterest on a monthly or more frequent cadence.
  • File size: Files must be under 5GB in size and contain less than 10M rows.

Upload conversions to ads manager

  1. Open Pinterest with your business account and click Ads.
  2. Click Conversions
  3. Click Upload Conversions
  4. Upload your .csv

Matching events

Once we’ve received your conversion file and completed the match process, we delete your original file along with any user identifiers you gave us, as covered in our Ad Data Terms.

Check the status of your csv upload

  1. Open Pinterest with your business account and click Ads.
  2. Click Conversions
  3. Click Conversion upload history
  4. Was the upload a success?


If an upload fails, review the upload and errors before you resubmit the CSV.

  1. Open Pinterest with your business account and click Ads.
  2. Click Conversions
  3. Click Conversion upload history
  4. Click on the row of the failed upload to see a dropdown displaying information on reasons for failure
  5. Click into View Data Errors to see the invalid data values in the CSV

Pinterest does not store original csv files from advertisersafter the match process is completed. To troubleshoot, you should refer to the invalid data values on your original uploaded file.

We support both hashed (SHA256, SHA1, MD5) and cleartext customer data fields.

If SHA256, SHA1, MD5 hashing, use lowercase characters and remove extra spaces before, after or in between the email address.

product_id The item number field may contain an alphanumeric value with no special characters, currency symbols or commas; this field allows you to split a transaction into multiple events by using unique product ids, i.e. SKUs, UPCs etc., for each item that is associated with the same transaction-id
