Claiming your website gives you insight into how often your content is shared on Pinterest. It also helps people know where to find more information, since your Pinterest profile is linked to any Pins with saved content from your website.

Whenever an image from your claimed website is saved:

  • Your profile picture will appear alongside the Pin
  • The Pin will link to your Pinterest profile 
  • People will see the option to follow you on Pinterest

    Types of websites you can claim

    To claim a website, you must own the domain, subdomain or subpath, and you need to be able to edit the source code. As a result, you’re unable to claim most social accounts and online stores hosted on marketplaces like Etsy, eBay and Amazon.

    A website can only be claimed by one Pinterest account. Each website you claim will be treated as a separate domain (unless they route to the same place).
    How to claim your website

    There are three ways you can claim a website. You can add an HTML tag, HTML file or TXT record to your website. You can learn more about each of these options below.

    Verification method What it is What you'll do
    HTML tag A small piece of text that describes a webpage's content. Copy and paste a personalized HTML tag from Pinterest and add it to the source code of your website.
    HTML file Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) is used to format the structure of your webpages. Download an HTML file from Pinterest and add it to your web server.
    DNS TXT record A Domain Name System (DNS) record contains text information about your website. These records determine how the server responds to requests. Copy and paste a personalized TXT record from Pinterest and add it to your website's DNS records.

    Once you've decided how you'd like to verify your website, follow the steps below. Keep in mind, the process may vary slightly by website provider.
    Find your claimed websites

    You can see which websites you’ve successfully claimed by going to your Settings and selecting Claimed accounts. Any current claimed websites will appear under the Websites section.
