Rich Pins are a type of organic Pin format that provide more context about an idea by showing extra information directly on the Pin. Rich Pins are a free product available for anyone on Pinterest. You can identify Rich Pins by the extra information above and below the image on closeup and the bold title in grid.
Types of Rich Pins
Rich Pins add extra details to Pins and update important information from the websites they came from. If something changes on the original website, the Rich Pin updates to reflect that change.
There are three types of Rich Pins: product, article, and recipe. Product Rich Pins show the most up-to-date price, availability, and product information right on your Pin. Article and recipe Rich Pins will update to reflect any edits you may make on your site.
Apply for Rich Pins
- If you have product, article, or recipe content on your site, mark up these pages with rich meta tags
- After adding meta tags to your web pages, validate one of your correctly marked-up content pages in the Rich Pin validator
- If the webpage you are applying with is correctly marked-up, an 'Apply' button will appear
- Click on this button to apply for Rich Pins
Once you apply, we will process your application within 24 hours.
When your site is enabled for Rich Pins, all content that contains correct meta tags on your site will start appearing as Rich Pins when added to Pinterest. Existing Pins that link back to pages with rich meta tags will also start appearing as Rich Pins.
Remove Rich Pin data
If you want to remove Rich Pin data from a content page, simply add this tag to the header of your page before the closing body tag:
<meta name="pinterest-rich-pin" content="false" />
The tag will override the Rich Pin meta tags on that page only and not affect the rest of your site. If you ever want to turn Rich Pins back on, remove this tag.
Pinterest sometimes "amplifies" Rich content on to non-Rich Pins. This means we match images that look alike to show Rich information on Pins we think are the same.
To check if the Rich information is incorrect due to amplification, click on the three dots at the top of the Pin and select 'Report Pin'. From there, you'll see 'The [recipe/price/title] is wrong'. You can remove the amplified information by clicking on that option. If you run into any Pins in the future that incorrectly added Rich information, follow these steps to remove it.
